I love depicting birds in my work, and this mixed piece was delightful to create… In Ready to Fly, the little blackbird is perched in a shallow pool of water and just about to take off.  The little scraps of linen are eco-dyed and stitched by hand and the papers collaged in the foreground and stained and glazed using my own special techniques.
