Encaustics

 

From the first time I worked with encaustics I was in love. The texture and feeling of painting with hot wax, the smell of beeswax, and the transparent layers of color over color all enticed me to work in this medium. 

This medium is to me the most mysterious of all. Layer after layer reveal different colors and images inlayed under the surface. In my encaustic paintings I would like to share the way I imagine the layers of the earth to be, and the magical qualities of what is hidden below the surface.
